brief respite, the fellowship and dinner extended to the wee hours of the night
(true to our Mount tradition).
Bro B. Rajagopal, in his true flamboyant style announced a contribution
of Rs.500, 000 towards the Masonic Foundation, in order to ensure that our premises
rises a superstructure perfect in its parts, useful to the craft in general and
a treasure to the Brethren of Chennai in particular. We are now hopeful that with
the gesture by our worthy Brother, the dining hall of the premises will be named
after our Mount Lodge.
During the Installation Meeting, the RW The Regional Grand Master made
a request to the Brethren present come forward to donate 16 fans, each costing
Rs.1, 100, required for the Dining Hall (this being not budgeted earlier). The

Sudarsanam, who is only 89 years, alongwith with his nephew Mr. V.S. Badrinarayanan.
This is the second time in the City of Chennai that the son is going to Initiate

in advance and ensure that we have a large gathering. There will be a nominal
subscription payable to defray the costs. Apart from this, such of those Brethren
who wish to sponsor for this meeting in cash or kind may get in touch with the
Secretary / W. Master. Details will follow by a separate communication.
W. Bro R. Dwaraknath is taking special efforts to launch a website for
our Mount Lodge. The template for the home page has been approved and the other
aspects of the web site are being attended to. The domain name www.themountlodge14.org
has been duly registered. We are hopeful to launch the site shortly.

cause Charity and for our own Brethren & their families and it is requested that
the Brethren of the Lodge rise to the occasion and ensure all our plans and dreams
are translated to deed and action.

Donations of rice or pulses under this scheme may be intimated to the Secretary.

The Grand Festival of the Grand Lodge of India
was a gala affair at Bangalore with a record attendance of masons from all over
the country. About 15 members from Mount Lodge attended the meeting. Further,
for the Brethren of Mount Lodge it will go down in history as a momentous meeting
on two counts:
»
We honoured our commitment, made by our Bro. B. Rajagopal, for contributing Rs.
5,00,000 to the Masonic Foundation. I had the honour of handing over the donation
to the M W The Grand Master, R W Bro M M Udeshi.
»
W Bro K S Sreekanth and W Bro R Dwarakanath
received their essay competition prizes, from the M W The Grand Master.
The first meeting of the Lodge held on 1st
December, was akin to a mini installation where we had in attendance nearly 80
Brethren to witness the memorable and historic Initiation Ceremony conducted by
W Bro K S Sreekanth, the Initiate(s) being his 89-year-old father, Bro K S Sudarsanam,
and his nephew, Bro V S Badrinarayanan. Our new Initiate Bro Sudarsanam has already
exhibited his enterprise and zeal for Freemasonry by attending the Installation
of Lodge Chennai.
On December 14th, all roads led to 'Sea View
Villa' at Neelangarai where we had organized an evening of Musical Extravaganza
and Felicitation for our RGM Elect R W Bro Dr. B Biswakumar. The setting was perfect
and the mood gala - the evening brought forth the unknown talents of our Brethren:
W Bro Sankaran, Bro V S Badrinarayanan, Bro L Ramani, W Bro V S Kylas and not
forget the 'Prubhu Deva' of the Lodge Bro. Dr. R Murugesan who danced (solo) effortlessly.
A number of visiting Brethren came forth with their own favourite songs and in
the lead were R W Bro Dr. B Biswakumar and W Bro Dr John Reginald. Our W Bro R
Dwarakanath felicitated R W Bro Dr B Biswakumar and expressed hope that the RGM
Elect would endeavour to build bridges between the English and the Indian Constitutions.
W Bro Dr John Reginald our ARGM also offered his felicitations. More that 40 Brethren
participated and the spirit of fellowship (fellow sip) carried on till midnight.
Special thanks goes to W Bro V S Kylas, who gave us the venue at no cost and to
Bro. N. Meenakshisundaram who stood at the Bar Counter the entire evening to ensure
that all the Brethren had their fill.
The next regular meeting is also going to
be unique - W Bro S S Prasad is going to Initiate his son (Lewis) Master Arjun
Prasad on the 5th January 2002. The last meeting saw a son Initiate his father
and this meeting will see a father initiating his son. Brethren are requested
to attend this meeting (the first in the New Year) without fail.
An Emergency Meeting of the Lodge is scheduled
to be held on 9th January 2002. The Second Degree working will be taken. Two candidates,
Bro K S Sudarsanam along with another available Initiate, will be Passed to the
Degree of Fellowcraft. This is going to be a joint meeting of our Lodge with Brethren
of Lodge Accountants 194. The ruling master of Lodge Accountants W Bro Vijay Vasudevan
alongwith his officers will do the Ceremony of Passing and the portions of the
degree will be rendered by the Brethren of Mount Lodge. This meeting is to reciprocate
our earlier joint meeting with Lodge Accountants.
Mount Lodge is bringing out a Souvenir to
be released during the Regional Grand Festival in February 2002; the monies collected
will be predominantly used to contribute for the Masonic Foundation and also for
our own charitable activities. As part of this initiative to collect contributions,
we are adopting a 3-pronged strategy:
»
A mailer to all masons in Chennai and to a
select group of masons in rest of the region, with a request to contribute atleast
Rs.1000.
»
Another to all the Lodges of India requesting
either a half page or a full-page advertisement from the Lodge. The tariff being
Rs. 2000 / 3000 respectively. »
Yet another to all commercial establishments
with a request for a half / full page advertisement. It is my humble request that
each and every Brother of our Lodge raise to the occasion and market actively
within your circle of contacts and ensure that you collect a sizable sum. Each
Brother should endeavour to collect atleast Rs.20, 000 from your efforts, to ensure
that we collect atleast our targeted figure of Rs. 5,00,000. Please get in touch
with W Bro R Dwarakanath - Chairman Souvenir Committee, for any further information
/ clarifications that you may require (Phone 8279856) ·
W Bro S S Prasad had the honour of Initiating
his friend of over 20 years (now a Brother) Bro B M Jayakar at Lodge Sainik, Bangalore
on 10th December. Bro Jayakar is expected to be amongst our midst on 5th January
·
The Brethren of Mount Lodge came out with
a spontaneous response to donate 16 during the Installation Meeting, the cost
of each fan being Rs.1, 100. Such of those Brethren who are yet to send the cheque
are requested to send the same to the Treasurer, W Bro P Madhusudhan. Cheques
to be drawn in favour of 'The Mount Lodge Charitable Trust'
The website of our Lodge is expected to ready
shortly. It our endeavour to announce the launch of the website on 29th December
2001, in the presence of the M W the Grand Master M W Bro M M Udeshi.
Brethren are requested to contribute liberally
to the 'Dhanya Dhan' program. Donations of rice or pulses under this scheme may
be intimated to the Bro. Secretary.
Brethren's attention is invited to the 'Grand
Master's Rupee Club' that calls for contribution of Rs.1 every day to the Grand
Lodge of India. Under this scheme Brethren are required to contribute Rs.365 to
the Grand Lodge of India.
Brethren are also requested to inform Bro.
Secretary of any of their achievements or public positions. This will enable us
to disseminate the information to other Brethren during the regular meetings of
the Lodge and also convey our fraternal greetings and good wishes.
With
warm fraternal greetings Ramachandran Krishnan Worshipful Master
